All of these options are available with the free Minimalio theme.
Create a blog page
First thing first, you need to have published posts, without them, there will be nothing on your blog page.
There are two options, either in Theme Settings -> Homepage settings, you can choose to have your home url to show your posts, or you can choose a specific page, under the “A static page” option. The other option is to create a page and set its template to “Blog template”. The difference is, that when you create a page with the blog template, you can also add some content above your posts.

You can find all the settings in the Theme Settings -> Minimalio Options -> Blog Options.
Sidebar Positioning

Transcription of the video
Hi there! Today I’d like to talk to you about how to make a blog page—meaning a page with an archive of all your blog posts.
It’s really easy, but first of all, you obviously need to have some posts. So here in the “Posts” section, you need to have published posts. Each post should have a title, some content, and ideally a thumbnail image. If you want, you can also use categories for filtering.
Now, how do you make the actual blog page?
First, you can go to the “Theme Options” or “Customizer.” In the “Homepage” settings, you can either set the blog to appear on your homepage, or you can assign it to a separate page you’ve already created—like one named “Home” and another named “Blog.”
There’s another option too. You can create a new page, call it “Blog” or whatever you like. Then, in the page settings panel, you’ll see a “Template” dropdown. Choose the “Blog” template. The difference here is that if you use this method, you can add content to the page, and it will appear above the blog posts. So you could add an introduction or any text you want.
If we look at the page now, you’ll see I added a heading, and it shows up just like that.
As for the blog page settings, it’s pretty straightforward. Just go to the theme settings, under “Minimalio Options” > “Blog Options,” and you’ll find all the settings there. I hope most of them are easy to understand.
Let’s go through them one by one:
- Sidebar Positioning: This controls the sidebar layout for the blog page (not single posts). You can choose right sidebar, left sidebar, or both.
- Single Blog Filter by Categories: This lets you enable or disable filtering posts by category.
- Filter Labels: Useful if your site isn’t in English or you want to customize the wording.
- Load More Options: This is a cool feature for pages with lots of posts. Instead of classic WordPress pagination, you can use “load more on scroll.” You can also set how many posts to show initially, and the rest will load automatically as the user scrolls.
- Blog Archive Columns: Lets you set the number of columns in your blog layout.
- Blog Display Type: You can choose between a grid layout (like square thumbnails with a 1:1 aspect ratio) or a masonry layout that arranges posts based on their thumbnail sizes.
- Blog Card Style: These are the different visual styles for your post cards. For example, style #5 works best with a single column layout.
- Column Gaps: Controls the spacing between the columns.
- Read More Label: For styles that include a “Read More” button, you can change the text.
- Hover Color: Lets you change the hover effect that appears when you hover over an image.
Then there are settings for Single Posts:
- You can enable a sidebar here too.
- Show a thumbnail image at the top of the post (note: vertical images will take up a lot of space).
- Add a post title and choose its alignment (center or left), and adjust its size (though it’s always an H1 element in the HTML—it’s just styled via CSS).
- You can display the category, date, author, and social sharing buttons.
- You can display Latest Posts at the bottom of each single post, and set how many to show. If you’re using multiple columns, you can adjust it so the layout looks balanced.
- And finally, there’s Single Post Navigation, where you can show links to the next or previous post at the end.
All right, that’s it—thanks for watching!
