Creating a single portfolio

Video

After installing the Premium plugin

If you have created a single portfolio, but it gives you the 404, simply doesn’t work, it’s necessary to save your permalinks. So please in WordPress, go to Settings -> Permalinks -> Press Save.

Set title, featured image and category

To start creating a single portfolio, just Add new, set the title, featured image and if you want to use the portfolio filtering, add a portfolio category.

Add content through the Gutenberg system

If you are not familiar with the Gutenberg system, please check out some tutorials, I might do on as well, but there are so many.

Customizer options – changing url/slug

You can change the url of your portfolios in the customizer, in the slug section. Again, don’t forget to save the permalinks after that.

Extra options for single portfolio in the customizer

You can automatically add different data to your single portfolio, like thumbnail, sharing options and more in the customizer.

Transcription of the video

Hi! Today, I’ll show you how to create a single portfolio page in WordPress.

First, this is the portfolio page. I’ve already made a video about setting up the portfolio page itself, but now I’ll focus on how to configure individual portfolio items. I’ll walk you through setting up the image, title, and the content that appears when you click on a portfolio item.

Start by going to WordPress and navigating to ‘Portfolios.’ Create a new portfolio item by clicking ‘Add New.’

  1. Set up the title of your portfolio.
  2. Add a featured image by selecting an image from your media library or uploading a new one.
  3. If you’re using the portfolio filtering feature (where visitors can filter portfolios by categories), assign the appropriate category or create a new one.
  4. Add your content using the Gutenberg editor. Since there are many tutorials on using Gutenberg, I won’t go into detail, but I might create a video on this in the future.

After adding the content, publish the portfolio. When you check the portfolio page, you’ll see the new portfolio item with its category and content displayed.

In the customizer, there are additional settings under ‘Portfolio Settings’ at the bottom. You can change the URL slug for the portfolio. For example, if you change it to ‘whatever,’ you’ll need to go to WordPress settings, navigate to ‘Permalinks,’ and simply click ‘Save Changes’ to update the links.

There are also options to automatically add elements to the single portfolio page, such as:

  • The featured image
  • Title and meta information (e.g., author, date, categories)
  • Social share buttons
  • Navigation through other portfolio items

If the single portfolio pages aren’t displaying correctly after installing the premium plugin, remember to save the permalinks again in ‘Settings’ > ‘Permalinks.’ This often resolves the issue.

That’s it! I hope this helps you create engaging and functional single portfolio pages. Thanks for watching!
